I need to tell other classmates about my dear friend of 60+ years as Connie was a very private person and a wonderful confidant.

The summer before our sophmore year, when I lived on Mill Road in the "wagon wheel" house, Connie and her family moved in 2 doors down. We immediately became fast friends and spent many hours over 2 years floating down the Little Spokane River and swimming at the swimming hole at the Dartford bridge along with other friends. She spent so many weekend days at lakes, swimming, skiing, etc, that I think my folks thought they had another daughter! I can't remember when it was, but one week night, her hair color night went wrong and she came running to my house, crying, with GREEN hair. We had to drive to almost downtown Spokane to find a drugstore that was open (remember, this was early 60's, no strip malls on  N. Division, no Google). Bought 2 boxes of brown hair color and my Mom and I spent the rest of the night trying to get her hair any color but green! We succeeded!

We also became wonderful friends with Cathy Buck and Carole Baker, and we all spent overnights together, mainly at my house as I had a big rec room, away from the main house, and an always fully stocked refridgerator!

Connie and Jerry were married the day after some us finally got out of high school! I was maid of honor and Cathy and Carole were bridesmaides.

They moved to Vancouver, WA where they both had family. I visited them there twice. They eventually started a White Water rafting company on the White Salmon River. They then bought a small RV park on a river in South West WA state. Jerry passed away, I believe in 1999 and shortly after, Connie was diagnosed with MS.

Connie decided to move back to Spokane, mainly to be halfway between her two sons (one in Montana and one in Vancouver )and closer to her 2 sisters in the Spokane area. She bought a lovely home on Rutter Parkway and became interested in learning to ride motorcycles. She met her 2nd husband at a session for new motorcyclyes and they spent alot of time seeing and traveling the country. Ray was a lovely man who adored Connie.  What more could you wish for a friend?  He passed away a year or so ago.

I will miss our occasional phone calls and annual Xmas letters. Even though I've lived in so many places in all these years and we didn't see each other often, I consider her one of the good ones, who will live in my heart forever.

There will be a celebration of life, June 1 at her home, 5906 W. Rutter Parkway. Time not yet determend.

hathat more could you want for a friend?
