Ronald R Cramer

Ronald R Cramer

October 7, 1946 - February 5, 2021
Ronald Richard Cramer, of Coburg, OR died on February 5, 2021. He was born October 7, 1946 in Spokane, WA to parents Mildred Elizabeth Richards Cramer and Wilbert James Cramer. He was the youngest of four children.
Ron spent his youth and college years in Spokane. He graduated from Mead High School with varsity letters in three sports. He went on to Whitworth University, where he met his wife, Patricia Ann Harrison. They were married in 1967.
After graduation from Whitworth in 1969 with a business degree, Ron began his career in insurance. He worked for Safeco as a claims adjuster from 1969 to 1977, in offices in Everett, WA; Bozeman, MT; and Clarkston, WA. He was transferred by Safeco to its claims office in Eugene in 1974 as adjuster-in-charge. In 1977, he left Safeco to work for Koford & Chapman Insurance in Junction City, OR. In 1983, he and two others formed an independent insurance agency, Cramer, Johnson & Giles, with offices in Springfield. This later became Cramer & Giles of Eugene.
Another company that Ron owned was SIRPRO (Self-Insured Retention Programs) which he founded in 1997. This company sold excess liability insurance to public entities such as municipalities, fire districts and utility districts in 13 states.
Ron was a past member of Eugene Elks, Emerald Executive Club, Peace Presbyterian Church, the Carver Boat Club, and was a board member for the Eugene Hearing & Speech Center during its operation. He was avid fan and supporter of the University of Oregon's Ducks football team. He was always willing to talk to young people about careers in business or the insurance field.
Ron was very sociable and often the life of the party. He had a great sense of humor and had a happy and positive outlook. He liked to be with his friends in large or small groups. A friend said of him, "I never saw him that he didn't make me laugh." He was curious about all sorts of things. His hobbies were fishing, golf, cars, boats, and airplanes. He obtained his pilot's license in 1983. He was a member of the Cobra Car Club and owned several classic and new Corvettes. He owned a race car and participated in races in Portland. He was never happier than when in the captain's seat of one of the many different boats he owned over the years, cruising the Columbia River and exploring the San Juans, or when joining friends for motocross trips.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Roger D. Thayer; his brother-in-law Michael F. Harrison; and his sister-in-law, Maria Lovins Harrison.
Ron is survived by his wife; and his two children, Brian T. Cramer (Deanna) of Eugene, and Alison E. Cramer of Coburg. He is also survived by his grandsons Jordan M. Cramer (Chelsea), Tyler S. Cramer and Gavin W. Cramer; Deanna's children, Emily Ota and Justin Ota; his sisters, Sharon Cramer Thayer, and Patricia Lou Cramer Petersen (Gary); his brother, James W. Cramer (Dee); his sister-in-law (Teresa V. Bollinger (Bob); his brother-in law, James R. Harrison; and numerous aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Musgrove Mortuary is handling burial arrangements. A celebration of life will be held later this summer. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice, Eugene Kidsports, or the charity of your choice.

It's taken me a while to write down something about my dear friend Ronny.  I have so many stories that I've been remembering, some of which I can't write down, but all in all they are wonderful memories of this very special guy.  First of all he was one of Darrell's best friends and Ron helped me through Darrell's death.  I loved his wit, his playfullness and his thoughtfullness.  I remember when he moved to Florida, came back for a visit and a bunch of us took him to the airport to send him back to Florida.  He was three sheets to the wind and stood at the top of the stairs of the plane crying and waving goodbye to all of us and we were doing the same.  We turned around to leave and we hear Ronny shouting at us again telling all of us how he loved us then the stewardess dragged him back into the plane again.  He was such a character.  I could go on and on, but mainly wanted to say how much I will miss him.  Always one of my favorites.  You will never be forgotten Ronny.
