I am feeling the sorrow that comes from learning a person you wish you had known

better has passed.

I vividly remember learning that LaRaine was my new boyfriend's cousin.

Most of Leith's cousins lived a long way from us, but even though we were

classmates, LaRaine was in the popular crowd, so I never saw much of her.

I am truly sorry that LaRaine wasn't in band with us my only year at Mead.

Band participation has a way of bringing together individuals from disparate groups.

It also cements friendships over the long haul, as Dean Seaman attested to years ago.

I only pray that when we all unite in Heaven one day, we will be able to make up for the lost time and opportunities.
